Strategic Projects

What is a strategic project?

The Western Australian Jobs Act 2017 defines a strategic project as a supply opportunity that the Minister for Jobs considers to be of strategic significance to the Western Australian economy. In other words, it is a supply opportunity that has the potential to generate a significant amount of economic activity and jobs within Western Australia.

Any contract valued at $25 million or more may be declared a strategic project by the Minister for Jobs.

The precise criteria for identifying a strategic project are currently being refined as part of regulations in support of the Western Australian Jobs Act 2017.
