The first Minister for Jobs’ Annual Report was tabled in Parliament by the Premier on 28 November 2018.
The report outlines the functioning of the Western Australian Jobs Act 2017 (WA Jobs Act) and the Western Australian Industry Participation Strategy (WAIPS) over the last financial year.
The report has a qualitative focus as the WAIPS was only fully implemented on 1 October this year.
Despite this brief reporting period, the data within the report demonstrates the extensive consultation process that was undertaken between State agencies, unions and industry bodies throughout implementation. The report also covers the positive progress of the WA Industry Link portal and nine pilot projects.
While tabling the report, Premier Mark McGowan stated, “Feedback from agencies and industry stakeholders has been positive’.
‘This government will always put WA jobs first and we are willing to do the hard work to do so.’
‘We look forward to updating the house annually as this landmark reform to procurement in Western Australia is progressed.”
