The Department of Finance, on behalf of the Department of Justice, has issued a Request for Expressions of Interest (EOI) to tender for the construction of a 160 bed unit at the Bunbury Regional Prison.
The scope of the project is to provide a 160 bed (80 cell) secure accommodation unit with associated services, including a dining hall with kitchen facilities, an officer post, interview rooms, and staff amenities. The scope also includes a strong focus on a high standard of security, quality and sustainable design. Project construction is expected to be completed by July 2019.
As one of the WA Industry Link pilot projects, the principles of the Western Australian Industry Participation Strategy have been applied to the project’s procurement process. This means prospective suppliers will need to provide details of how they will engage local industry if awarded the contract as part of their EOI response.
To further enhance the opportunity for local business to participate in the project, an industry briefing will held once a shortlist of contractors has been selected. The industry briefing will be open to all interested subcontractors, offering them a chance to meet and network with the shortlisted contractors.
Applications for the EOI close Friday, 31 Aug 2018 at 2:30pm.
The tender is available to view on Tenders WA here.
A separate EOI for additional Bunbury Prison expansion works, including education, dining and kitchen upgrades, is expected to be issued soon.
