Contract awarded for Casuarina Prison Expansion Project

The Department of Finance has announced the contract has been awarded for the Casuarina Prison Expansion Project.


The Department of Finance has announced the $84.8 million contract for the Casuarina Prison Expansion Project has been awarded to Broad Construction Services Pty Ltd.

Under the two-stage contract, Broad will design and build four additional living units, which will provide an additional 512 beds at the prison.

One of the new units will be used to provide a male alcohol and other drug treatment facility.

To support the additional accommodation, the on-site utility services will be upgraded, as well as construction of new ancillary support buildings containing program and education rooms, interview and medical consultation rooms and a video link facility.

The project also includes construction of a new kitchen and expansion of key service delivery buildings including social and official visits, reception and outpatient medical centre.

The project is expected to commence in January 2019.

The Casuarina Prison Expansion Project is one of the
WA Industry Link pilot projects.
