New Museum Project - Stage 2

The New Museum Project in the Perth Cultural Centre is being delivered under a two stage Managing Contractor procurement model. Multiplex Constructions Pty Ltd is the Managing Contractor for the project, being awarded the contract in July 2016.

During Stage One of the project, which is now complete, the Managing Contractor progressed the design to the point where the subcontractor works packages could be tendered with the aim to provide full, fair and reasonable opportunity for local businesses to take part in and benefit from the works. 

During Stage Two of the New Museum Project, the Managing Contractor will complete the procurement of the works. The Managing Contractor has progressed subcontracts for a number of trade packages during Stage 2, with over 90% of these contracts awarded to West Australian businesses (representing over 80% by value of awarded contracts).

The construction stage of the museum reached practical completion, on time and on budget in December 2019.

The museum, which is expected to be open in late 2020, will feature eight major galleries, a 1,000 square metre exhibition gallery and a cafe and function space.
